When one thinks of authentic “lavender oil”, the prototypical sweet herbal aroma is derived from the native Lavandula angustifolia plants growing in southern France and near-by Mediterranean countries. While it is a lovely and characteristic fragrance, there are many other varieties of Lavandula angustifolia cultivated around the world, producing a wide spectrum of individual fragrances that are subject to many factors including the genetic program of each variety and seasonal weather patterns during the annual bloom. At RavenCroft, we have found that blending selected combinations of our lavender oils can produce enticing scents that tend to “lean” toward recognizable fragrances, particularly among the most volatile “top notes” that color the underlying core lavender character. In the chart below are listed our featured lavender blends, with a description of the direction each one tends to lean.
